R&D Formulation Chemist

We are seeking a Chemist to join our Formulation Team in an environment with strong commitment to internal and external customer service.  The successful candidate will work well with minimum supervision to develop and evaluate skincare formulations.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Up-to-date lab bench experience formulating new and innovative skin care products and product improvements
• Solid working knowledge of the raw materials used to formulate a wide variety of skin care products
• A passion for innovating with new and novel raw materials, formulation concepts and processing techniques. An Autumn Harp Chemist utilizes a creative, non-conventional approach to develop unique, quality products.
• Experience investigating and leveraging consumer insights, market trends and formulation technologies, applying them to development projects
• Strong, independent technical ability in a laboratory. Partnering with a process engineer, will be able to translate product formulations and their manufacturing processes to production scale.
• Experience setting up and monitoring formula and product stability. Responsible to collecting, recording and maintaining product data and stability history.
• A detail-oriented multi-tasker. Must be able to manage numerous projects in parallel. Can problem solve through challenges, putting focus where needed, while also forwarding other priorities.
• A flexible self-starter. The Chemist position requires a high level of individual initiative. They must be work well under pressure and pivot as needed when priorities change.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of BA or BS in chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent science
• Previous formulation experience within a lab environment
• Knowledge of chemistry, skin biology, raw materials and emulsion technology are required
• Compliant with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
• Proficient with the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Leadership skills and experience mentoring others would be a plus

Product Safety Specialist II

The Product Safety Specialist II is a crucial supporter of the R&D team.  You will be responsible for managing and executing safety and regulatory functions for a cross functional team within Autumn Harp as well as for the R&D team.  This is a hands-on role that interacts closely with all facets of the business and will give you an inside look at how beauty products come to life.  You will be primarily responsible for ensuring that our products are respectful of our customers, retailers, and governmental ingredient restriction policies are safe and effective for customers.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal scrum teams overseeing multiple customers
  • Preparing Testing Plans for each new product in development
  • Confirm raw material and formula compliance: Review ingredients against global regulatory space.
  • Execute successful product launches: Collaborate cross functionally with the R&D team to create safe, compliant and innovative products that launch in the US and globally.  Partner with customers on a regular basis to ensure timely completion of the regulatory phase of product development.  Strong customer relationships are a key to success for contract manufacturing.
  • Manage Product testing: Set up claims and safety testing required on each product.  Update cross functional team on all external/internal testing with dates and results.
  • GMP and Lab Cleanliness: Help to maintain GMP standards for the R&D space.  

Experience and Skills Required:

  • A degree in or related work experience in a scientific field, a plus

Sales Manager

We are seeking a Sales Manager to join our team in an environment with strong commitment to internal and external customer service.  The successful candidate will be responsible for executing strategic plans to ensure maximum volume, profitability and customer relations to drive long term growth for Autumn Harp. The Sales Manager is responsible for maintaining long-term relationships with a designated portfolio of strategic customers, while growing sales volumes through new product development.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Establishes deep relationships with existing accounts to service current and new product offerings ensuring the sales pipeline remains full with qualified opportunities for Strategic Accounts
  • Maintain trend and industry knowledge through trade show attendance, industry events, and marketplace research
  • Creates and analyzes customer profiles including financial and marketing data, in order to identify potential new product diversification
  • Brings new products to market by originating and initiating product concepts, issuing product profiles, liaising with customer and R&D to ensure timely and appropriate formula development  and establishing schedules with the account manager
  • Evaluates customers’ existing and potential product needs and make recommendations for bluesky & library product ideas
  • Keeps management informed by providing activity and results reports on a monthly basis or as needed
  • Monitors competition by gathering marketplace information on pricing, products and merchandising techniques.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain, Finance and Manufacturing (as appropriate) to develop and deliver new products and/or services, with the intent of keeping Autumn Harp competitive and innovative
  • Recommends the nature and scope of future product lines
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with key external and internal customers to ensure the integrity, quality and delivery of products and customer service
  • Evaluate opportunities for feasibility, profitability and overall business fit in collaboration with VP of Strategic Accounts\
  • Travel as necessary, up to 30%

Material Handler

E2 Shift: Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6:45am - 7:00pm

Reporting to the Material Handling Supervisor, the Material Handler’s main responsibilities are to manage, prep and prepare all materials for production, verifying the accuracy of the order.  The right candidate will have the ability to communicate well – both externally and internally; be a team player with a strong work ethic; ability to work productively and independently is essential.  Must be detailed-oriented, highly organized, previous forklift a plus.  Must be able to handle 50 lbs. routinely, 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to stand and walk for long periods on a regular basis.   May be required to assist and work on production lines as needed.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Verify and deliver materials to production accurately and on time
  • Perform the inventory transactions in the ERP system, keeping jobs updated throughout the shift
  • Wrap and move pallets to final locations
  • Communicate within the production team
  • Work in a safe and diligent manner to make sure company guidelines are met

Minimum requirements:

Process Engineer

The Process Equipment Engineer is part of the Research & Development team and is responsible for Process Design, Scale Up, Compounding Equipment knowledge, FMI creation and maintenance, and OTC Validation training required for product development.  They will act as a liaison within the scrum team environment and be responsible for product development and scale-up from the lab bench to steady-state production. The Process Engineer must be both knowledgeable and willing to learn OTC and cosmetic validation procedures under the guidance of the Senior Process Engineer to be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.  The Process Engineer is also responsible for the investigation of out of specification batches working collaboratively with cross function teams to ensuring that all designed processes adhere to the quality, safety, and cleanliness standards of Autumn Harp, as well as supporting the needs of the greater R&D lab team when necessary.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Participating member of a Scrum team for new product development
  • Technical expert on all compounding kettles and equipment, with a focus on ownership of the rapid prototyping pilot vessel; including kettle logistics & physical batching/cleaning: scheduling, cleaning, maintenance, and training. 
  • Manages the process design and implementation needed for blue sky and market-trend development batches.
  • Responsible for maintaining the health of FMI documents and batching processes in a timely manner through the PCR process.  As well as authoring FMI documents for new experiments, pilots and/or productions when needed.
  • Provides technical support and scheduling advice to the compounding department, assisting and providing guidance to Team Leads and Batchers.
  • Develop & write technical OTC batching validation protocols that meet FDA guidelines. 
  • Work in partnership with R&D, Regulatory and Quality to complete PCRs (process change requests) for production.
  • Completes investigations in collaboration with the Quality team on out of specification product.
  • Plays a key role working with customers who are on site to make new products, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Cross train to fully support the entire pilot team process for R&D, Batching and Filling
    Special projects as assigned for process improvements and R&D lab support (lab batches, stability, product safety, etc.)

Experience and Skills required:

  • 5+ years of related process engineering experience
  • BS in engineering, chemical engineering preferred
  • Direct experience working in a GMP environment
  • Experience working with manufacturing processing equipment
  • Ability to connect with external and internal customers
  • Independent, creative and logical thinker with a problem-solving mindset

Technical Operator
  • E1 Shift - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6:50 AM 0 7:00 PM

  • E3 Shift - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 6:50 PM - 7:00 PM

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, Technical Operators are responsible for working with the manufacturing team to ensure that all equipment is performing optimally, operating pieces of equipment on the production floor, as well as assisting Maintenance Technicians with line setups and changeovers of manufacturing lines. Must be detailed-oriented and highly organized.  Must be able to handle up to 50 lbs. and able to stand and walk up to 12 hours on a regular basis.  Would be required to lead and work on production lines as needed.  

 Responsibilities include:

  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with changeovers, minor adjustments/repairs and line setups, as needed.
  • Performs all of the duties of a manufacturing operator including:
  • Starts and stops machines and reports machine issues; reads, understands and follows product specification and operation sheets; inspects containers to specs.
  • Fill vats and move kettles; replenishes packaging supplies and machine supplies.
  • Completes all associated paperwork associated for each product order.
  • Meets production targets on the line by both working the line at various stations and by providing coaching to line workers and temporary associates to meet targets.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to assist the maintenance team as needed
  • Follows all safety guidelines and protocols
  • Perform house cleaning (5S) tasks
  • Support Operational Excellence program by doing audits and being part of continuous improvement activities

By joining our talented compounding department, you can expect to challenge yourself while performing a variety of tasks. Our Compounding Technician ensures that all products are batched in accordance to the formula manufacturing instructions or “recipe”. You will stage and verify all required ingredients for bulk products and use state-of-the-art machinery to mix and blend raw materials. Our compounding team is responsible for product flow to manufacturing – providing high quality product that meets standards for flavor, color, viscosity and visual appearance.

Autumn Harp is looking to add quality-minded operators to each of our four production shifts.  We are a premier contract manufacturer in the beauty and personal care industry.  New team members can expect to be challenged within our fast paced, FDA regulated, 24/6 manufacturing environment. Our Production Operators run state-of-the-art machinery, follow detailed specifications to produce our finished products, as well as complete required documentation.  Operators tend equipment that perform packaging functions, such as filling, marking, labeling, banding, packing and wrapping components.  Flexibility is needed to work at various stations while following product specification sheets.  Safety is our number one focus and each team member is expected to follow all safety guidelines and report any safety issues.
